Reginald Ezekiel Ward Jr. is a well-known and loved leader, speaker and philanthropist from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Better known as EZ, his dynamic personality and inspiring journey has led him to speak in front of tens of thousands of people. His high-energy and passion has allowed him to govern and provide guidance for college students and collaborate with some of the top Black-owned media outlets. With his charisma, warmth and dedication, EZ hopes to continue to fulfill his purpose by empowering the underrepresented and offering the tools and resources to find, identify and live in their God-given purpose.
Raised in Prince George’s County, EZ’s journey began in 3rd grade at Perrywood Elementary, as he was given his own morning sports show to talk to his fellow youth every week, from elementary school to middle school. By the time he was in high school, he was appointed the chaplain, praying before meetings with other students and became the go-to person for encouraging words. During this same time, EZ was also facing challenges of his own. He was diagnosed with a speech impediment that hindered him from confidently speaking without stuttering. It was this same roadblock that became a stepping stone for him. Being teased in grade school gave him the determination to attend speech therapy sessions and find his voice. With his persistence and drive, EZ soon realized that God had gifted him with this voice to motivate others through his own experiences and transformations.
His journey continued in 2014, as EZ had the opportunity to play college football during his freshman year at his alma mater North Carolina A&T State University. He had an internship with RadioOne Inc. in the marketing promotions department in 2015, then interned with Roland Martin at NewsOneNow in 2016. Committed to his goals of making an impact, he ran for student body president in spring 2016 but was not elected. Yet, EZ’s ambition for a leadership role with his peers pushed him to try again in fall 2016, as senior class president, and he won the election. In the midst of opposition, he believes your true character will ultimately be revealed. In 2016, he also pursued Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He went on to complete his Bachelor’s of Science with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism in 2017, and gave his speech as Senior Class President at graduation in front of 23,000 people. In 2019, EZ attained his Master’s at Georgetown University in Sports Industry Management, with an emphasis in Strategic Marketing.
In spite of the obstacles EZ has faced throughout his youth, he’s had the support and guidance of his father to get him through it all. EZ is dedicated to helping underprivileged youth and aspires to tell stories that resonate with people just like him. Like many of those that he mentors, he loves spending time with family and friends, Sunday football and soul food. His love for adventure and thrill have pushed him to want to go above and beyond to reach young adults and young professionals. Using his platform and his voice, he plans to impact, encourage and inspire others, to show them how to walk in their destiny and walk in their purpose to be the best version of themselves.
“There’s pain in your purpose and purpose in your pain.”
